Friends (not a very jolly post)

September 16, 2008 · Leave a Comment

We had a friend over for dinner.   He is in a tough spot (*) and invited himself…

I made chicken spaghetti so we had a ton to eat and a great time.

I am upstairs listening to him laugh hysterically with my son while playing video games.  He is 35 and my child is 13.

He loves him – and when I say that I refer to each of them.

And we – my husband and I – love both of them more than we can say.

One of them we have carried through hard times and the other, well the hard times have yet to come, really.

All I can say is that I am blessed beyond all belief that I have introduced my child to a man that will be a best friend and sounding wall when the chips are down.

These are the times when I feel like all of the stars have aligned when it comes to raising a child.

I type this with tears in my eyes and a smile in my heart.

(*) Lost his mom and got divorced from the woman he loves within 6 months of each other.  I have never seen a man grieve so much in my life and the tears that still dampen my shoulder make me feel like a better person for being there for him.

I watched her live show while getting my toes did yesterday.

She is strangely cooky, but a really good singer.

I am recommending her if you like a Fiona-ish voice and a laid back sound.

I’m just sayin…

Bravo to Bravo!

September 14, 2008 · 1 Comment

Two more TV shows to fill up my Tivo.

Tabatha’s Salon Takeover (Love her hair and her attitude) and Million Dollar Listing (Josh is such a putz, but was dead on when he said that Chad’s lips always look gray) on Bravo.

I’m really glad that I didn’t have anything important to do today. :)

TMI!! Almost….

September 13, 2008 · 1 Comment

Here is the headline that I saw:

Commentary: The Sarah Palin smear-fest

At first glance I thought Palin’s latest OBGYN results had been leaked to the media.

Then I realized it said Fest and not Test.

Whew! Another TMI story averted.

You vs Ike

September 12, 2008 · 1 Comment

They told you to leave.

They used the words “certain death”.

You chose to stay and to put those that agreed to serve and protect in harms way.

24,000 of you riding it out…..

My child’s father swore to serve and protect. He would have to stay to save you from your poor decision.

I would never forgive you if something happened to him.

The police/firefighters/Coast Guard/National Guard HAVE to stay. You civilians do not. What you are protecting can be replaced.

Thank you for being selfish. Ike has been on the radar for over a WEEK.

Wow – it is a full moon tonight and I won’t sleep because apparently I’m a werewolf.

I will take Bitter and Sarcastic for $400 Alex.
