The fountain of youth

September 11, 2008 · 1 Comment

The 13 year old beat the 40 year old tonight while playing golf.

When I got home the 40 year old wasn’t speaking to the 13 year old.

Sweet! Those are my genes baby!!!

It grows back………..

I had 5 inches cut off of mine today.

It now measures about 2 inches long all over and I LOVE IT!!!

I will never try to grow my hair out again.

Until it is cool to have long tresses again…. :)

Seven years since the worst tragedy this country has suffered.

Please take a moment (or eleventy million of them) to remember those that lost their life, father, mother, sister, brother, the love their life, family member or friend on this day seven years ago.

I remember where I was – in the parking deck of my office building listening to the radio.

I remember fighting with my husband when he didn’t take me seriously as I was worried about the safety of my child in a state far away from what was happening.

I remember him calling me back telling me to go – go now – get him from school.

I remember trying to explain to a 6 year old about what was happening while trying to understand myself. Planes, buildings, fields, Pentagon…. Really?? How how how how how how how???

My brother in law was a fire chief at the time. My brother in law is from NY – my brother in law knew people directly impacted by this tragedy.

My ex husband is a police officer. My son had issues when he heard how many police and firepersons lost their lives. Trying to save people. This is what they do – this is what they practice for, but this level of requirement was nothing they thought they would ever see. However, they didn’t give up. They didn’t stand on the street. They went it to save people – that is after all, what they did for a living.

I will never forget how our country was compromised. I will never forget those who gave their lives to save others, those who’s lives were taken in a split second or those who’s lives were taken NOT in a split second and who suffered the horror and fear of what was unfolding right in front (or below) of them.

Please remember them in your prayers and your thoughts.

Our children will hear about it today at school. I will make it a dinner topic. It isn’t a pleasant one, but unfortunately it is a string in the quilt of this country.

Dear Mr. Sandman,

I don’t remember fighting with you, but if we did I’m REALLY sorry.

Please come back.

Longing for your presence,

Golf

What a great time yesterday!

Played in a tournament that a vendor sponsored and it was fantastic! I played a lot better than I normally do and had some shots that I really wish I have bottled and kept for the next time that I play. :)

We didn’t win anything (came in 1 under), but had a fun time nonetheless.

Sweet Mother

Tom Brady out for the year… I’m a huge UM fan and a bigger Brady fan (where the hell is Henne?).

I just saw the newscast and it brings tears to my eyes (literally as I saw him on the field looking at the camera).

Another post to follow about my child star football player who decided not to play this year……

Football isn’t a career (except for Favre).

Sunday

My blessings from our Sunday:

My parents live less than two miles away

They joined us tonight for dinner

They made it home safely

My 13 year old is in bed before 10:00 pm enjoying his peace and quiet after a weekend with his dad

My husband is working his Fantasy Football League

I’m enjoying the quiet and dark first floor of our house watching Chicago and Indy playing football

My husband and I are playing in a golf tournament tomorrow (together :) )

Life is good

I hope everyone had as wonderful a weekend as I had.

For the love……

Dear Mother Nature (and Nature is not the first word that came to mind),

92 degrees today……. Really? It is September and football has started so obviously you didn’t get the memo that we are supposed to be getting cooler weather…. I mean I would even take the low 80s.

I’m in a golf tournament tomorrow so it would be great if you could lose the attitude.

Your anticipated cooperation is much appreciated,

Hot and Bothered (actually Burning Up and Really Pissed Off)

Coupons

September 7, 2008 · Leave a Comment

I swear by them and it has become a game for me. I spend about an hour on Sunday with the coupons and the flyers for the grocery stores around here. My husband swears he saves more at one and I swear that I do at the other. Game on! I won this week

I saved $50.00 dollars yesterday at our grocery store. The receipt tape was as tall as I am!

I bought a brand of water that is usually $2.99 a bottle, but was 10 for 10 (probably just gave the chain name away there) and I had a buy on get one free. ONE DOLLAR PEOPLE!!!! My son will fall over when he gets home tomorrow. I always refuse to get it for him when we shop.

Clip the coupons everyone. They are working hard for ya!

A letter to UM

September 6, 2008 · Leave a Comment

Dear Coach Rodriguez,

We lost to Utah last week and I had to endure the same heckling at the office as last year when we lost to App State (not your fault – Lloyd was at the healm then).

PLEASE DON’T LOSE TO MIAMI OHIO!!!! I promise to watch this week and I will scare my dogs and anyone else within a mile of my house as I scream at the television giving you all of the support that I can give from so many states away.

If we don’t win today I will have to telecommute for the next 5 months in order to not strangle the first person that busts my chops for all of the maize and blue that I surround myself in.

If we don’t win I might have to retire the UM purse too and take up carrying the UGA one. Although black and red go with virtually everything I prefer to carry the blue and yellow one that makes people in the South throw up in their mouths just a little. I’m a giver.

Signed,
Yours forever (until this afternoon and then I reserve the right to revoke it)

PS – thankyouverymuch
